On The Water at Herring Bay

Just a few images taken from recent time on the water.  We’ve had some stunning weather lately, and these images capture the feel of time spent out there.  Some of these photos were taken while on board my dockmate’s classic Chris*Craft 28.

  1. We snagged one of those rays while trolling for bluefish the day before. Some serious tug-of war ensued (yo-yo, not rod, which is probably better for a heavy fish like that). Unfortunately he straightened out the hook just as we were getting ready to land him.

    A nice day.

    • Drew, might actually have been “fortunately” kind of event. I think they are difficult to handle once in the boat, and the threat of an accidental puncture with the tail Barb is real unless one’s handling technique is reliable. On the other hand, I’ve been told that the filets are excellent!
